Short story writers: Angela Williams
Angela Williams grew up on a farm in Herefordshire, England. During childhood she was a whizz at local gymkhanas; excelling in the egg & spoon race. Later in life she got serious and began her artistic career by obtaining her degree in visual art, specializing in textiles at Goldsmiths College, the University of London.
In 1986 she moved to Amsterdam and married her Dutch husband. She is an active member of a writers’ circle there and alongside her creative writing has had articles published in publications aimed at the ex-pat community. She also teaches English as a second language.
In 2008 ‘Homecoming’ was shortlisted in the Frome Festival Short Story Competition. In November she completed a 50,000 word rough draft as part of the National novel writing month (nanowrimo). Right now she is procrastinating until 2009 when revision and editing will begin...
Angela's short story Homecoming was a runner up in the Short Story Radio Competition 2008 and has subsequently been recorded for broadcast. Her short story The Feast of the Thaw was broadcast on Short Story Radio in 2007 - 08.
