Short Story Radio Projects
Over the past two years Short Story Radio has been involved in a number of successful collaborations with charities and not-for-profit groups.
Bedside Stories
Short Story Radio ran an innovative and exciting project to provide hospital radio stations with a series of short stories for patients.
Our Bedside Stories were written by Sue Moorcroft, whose work has appeared in numerous national magazines, including Bella, The People's Friend and My Weekly. The stories were narrated by Tamara Kennedy (Take The High Road, Taggart, Monarch of the Glen).
Just some of the hospital radio stations who benefitted from our Bedside Stories can be seen to the right. You can also listen to two of our Bedside Stories online. Insight Radio
Short Story Radio was delighted to be featured on Insight Radio, the radio station of the Royal National Institute of the Blind, in late 2008, early 2009 and spring 2010. As part of our Arts Council England funded project we supported Insight Radio by donating ten short stories for broadcast.
New for 2010
Producer Ian Skillicorn has now established National Short Story Week (November 22nd - 28th) and through the new not-for-profit company Short Story Week C.I.C. will be working on community projects throughout the year. The aims are:
to produce quality, original audio stories, poetry and drama for non-commercial organisations, at no cost to them;
to work with communities to give previously unbroadcast writers the chance to have their work professionally recorded and then broadcast on radio;
to widen access to quality audio productions to hard to reach groups of people in society;
to produce audio stories for groups of people in society who do not feel their lives are reflected in mainstream storytelling.
More information will be available later in the year from www.nationalshortstoryweek.org.uk |
